This vine was obtained crossing Bicane and Moscato d’Amburgo in 1911.This cross fertilization was not considered ideal. Later, after verifying its characteristics conduct in environments different from that of origin, the variety was wisely appreciated and it gained a great success. This variety is one of the most favourite varieties in the world.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTES
The bunch is big, 20cm long, conical-pyramidal shape, winged, with thin grapes and a wide herby peduncle. The berry is very big, regular, egg-shaped; the peel is pruinose, thick, consistent, gold-yellow coloured; the pulp is juicy and plump, with a sweet flavour and a delicate, pleasant muscat aroma.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
It is very vigorous, demands expanded forms of growing that can favour its full bloom. It is preferable to avoid an excessive production of leaves and vegetation because their shadow would not permit a regular colouring of the grapes. It is a very long distance transport resistant grape. This variety results really attractive for its big bunches that are not extremely compact and because of its big yellow-alabaster, crisp grapes.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The production is abundant and constant; the maturity is late between the 2nd and the 3rd decade of September.
