Notes
This vine species has been cultivated for a long time in Apulia, but it has been introduced from Spain. The name derives from the fanciful interpretation of some old vine-growers who paraphrased the name “Bambino” to “Bombino” because of the characteristic form of the bunch, similar to the form of a child.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTERS
The bunch has a medium size, with a cylindrical-conical form, lightly compact; the grapes are half close, the berry is blue, the peel is pruinose, thick, constant, the juice is colourless and the taste is neutral.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
It’s a vine species that don’t need specific climatic conditions and regions; it has a fairly good resistance to the mildew and to the vine mildew but ir’s sensitive to the harvest bug.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The quantity of the production is very good, the ripening is tardy.
WINE CHARACTERS
It’s a ruby table wine having a dry, tannic, refined, aromatic taste with a vinous, pleasant sweet smell, full of extractive substances.
Aging improves its qualities. |
