Notes
This vine species is cultivated on the sides of Vesuvio and it was described by the Latin Georgic poets as “Aminea Gemella”. It came to Apulia from Campania.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTERS
The bunch is medium-small size, it’s compact, conical shaped, with a wing particularly expanded almost forming a double bunch; the grape is small, round shaped with a pruinose, thin, tender peel, yellow coloured tending to grey.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
It’s preferable to cultivate it in deep, not compact, fresh soils rich in calcium. It adapts to rich forms of pruning. It’s sensible to mildew, to Peronospora and to the rottenness and in humid years it’s very sensible to rottenness.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The production is good and the ripening begins at the middle of September.
WINE CHARACTERS
The wine obtained can also be blended to other kinds of grapes.
The golden yellow coloured wine is pleasant, it has an intense sweet smell, with a good alcoholic grade. It can be used as a dessert wine if it’s transformed in sparkling wine.
