Notes
It has been growing in the district of Lecce; it’s different from Malvasia varieties of eastern origin because it doesn’t have characteristics muscat, bitterish smell and taste, typical of the Malvasia species.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTERS
The bunch is medium, the young species of vine have close grapes, the adult ones have loose grape clusters with a conical form, wing shaped.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
This type of vine species more or less vigorous, has a little resistance to the downy mildew, to the vine mildew and to the Botritis. It stands up fairly well to the summer high temperatures.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The production is fairly good and constant; the tardy ripening starts at the beginning of September.
WINE CHARACTERS
The wine produced is enough alcoholic, ruby-red colour, with a pleasant, harmonic smell. It’s often joined with Negroamaro, giving it flavour and spiritousness. |
