Notes
Maybe this is the first vine introduced from France in Italy where it has large diffusion. It is a fundamental wine with Cabernet to produce some of the most famous wines in the world.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTERS
It has a medium bunch, with a pyramidal shape, winged, almost compact with a peduncle; medium, round, blue-purple grape; the peel is medium, resistant and pruinose; the pulp is sweet, juicy with a more or less intense herby taste.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
Generally it is a vigorous vine, with normal vine-shoot and short internodes. It adapts to different types of soils and climates; it does not grow in hot and drought soils unless they are frequently irrigated. It can be differently grown and pruned but it prefers medium pruning.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The production is abundant and constant. It is more productive when the vine is long-pruned. The ripening and the grape harvesting are expected at the beginning of September.
WINE CHARACTERS
The wine has a ruby red intense colour, a lightly herby alcoholic, spiced taste with a low grade of acidity. In the hilly northern areas, you can have a really good wine. It improves its quality if blended with Cabernets. |
