Notes
This species of vine are widely cultivated in Barletta and in Bari area. Its name derives from the city of Troy, from where it was imported by the Greek people that disembarked in Apulia.
AMPELOGRAPHIC CHARACTERS
The bunch is generally compact simple or winged, the peduncle is a bit woody with a green colour, it can be separated with difficulty from the grape. The grape is round medium size, the peel is pruinose with purple colour, fleshy pulp and simple flavour.
CULTIVATION CHARACTERS
It is a species of vine with a good vigour; it adapts to all soils but it prefers hot climates and fields; it adapts to all forms of growing and pruning. It can also be grown using any form of mechanization.
PRODUCTION AND VINTAGE
The production is good and consistent, the ripening is late.
WINE CHARACTERS
The colour of the wine is ruby red more or less intense; the perfume is alcoholic, vinous and pleasant; the flavour is dry, with a good body, rightly tannic; after drinking it, you keep a pleasant, bitterish flavour. |
